Note: Crested saguaro was next to light-colored boulder behind the orange fence. From the University of Arizona's Campus Arboretum page: "If you have noticed that Old Main is finally finished with all of their renovations, you also may have noticed the absence of one of the University of Arizona Campus Arboretum's Heritage Trees the Crested Saguaro (Carnegiea gigantea). The specimen at Old Main was listed as a heritage tree and was a feature of numerous Campus Arboretum tours and plant walks. Due to extensive infection, the specimen toppled over after a very minor wind storm last summer. The specimen has been removed with hopes that another crested specimen ..."
This crested saguaro was replaced with Educated Crest II in 2015.
